Caitlin has been teaching music, theater and voice professionally for over a decade.

In 2010, as a junior in high school, Caitlin was hired to assistant direct the Champaign Park District’s Youth Theater program production of The Music Man Jr and went on to be employed by CPYTD year-round as an Assistant Director, Music Director and eventually Director, for 8 of their musicals. As Director, she ran their 6-week full-day (9am-3pm) camp with 60 participants ages 9-14. In addition to the normal duties of a director of a musical (casting, blocking, overseeing overall design, rehearsal scheduling, etc.) she designed a curriculum that successfully fleshed out the camp experience for every participant, regardless of what role they played in the show.

Then, in the summer of 2011, she founded and began directing the Champaign-Urbana Youth Glee Club which you can learn more about here.

Later in 2011 Caitlin was the first ever recipient of the 40 North 88 West Arts Council Student ACE Award.

Nyc to present:

As part of the fulfillment of a major in vocal performance and minor in Educational Theater at NYU, Caitlin studied fundamentals and implementation of techniques such as Kristin Linklater’s Freeing the Natural Voice, Process Drama, Theater of the Oppressed, and Documentary/Verbatim Theatre for use in the classroom and beyond.

Since graduating, she has been an instructor for the PS 261 Zipporiah Mills after school program offering Glee club (pop repertoire choir), Broadway Bound (theater skills), and Superstar Singers (solo singing) classes. In addition she has been on the creative team for the annual musical production every year since 2017 as the Assistant Director and now as of 2022, the Director. Highlights include last year’s production of Matilda Jr. (pictured to the right), our original “Zoomical” in 2021, and our original Musical Revue in 2022.

She is currently on the prestigious roster of Teaching Artists for Midori & Friends as a choral, voice, and music theater instructor and teaches private voice lessons for The Riverdale Country School. In 2019 she was on the faculty for The Dwight School’s Global Music Festival at their campus in Shanghai, China where she prepared a co-ed chorus of 100 students from the U.S., the U.K., Korea, China, and Dubai for a concert presented at Shanghai Concert hall.
